ENTERTAINMENT OF THE NEW MILLENNIUM
In 2000, in Curno, not far from Bergamo, the first multiplex cinema in Italia, commissioned by UCI, a joint venture between Universal and Paramount was built.
The building consists of nine, different-sized cinema halls. The hall is the nodal centre of the complex, topped by an ellipsoid cupola that becomes an entertainment area. Equipment rooms and service spaces, as well as administrative buildings, staff changing rooms and store rooms are foreseen to complete the complex, obtained by making the most of the space beneath the terraced steps. An escalator, a hydraulic lift and two convenient curved staircases with risers that also in the semi-darkness are distinguished by coloured fibre-optic cables that provide access to the upper floor and therefore, entry to the cinema hall according to orderly flows of public.
