In November 2024, Magnetti Building carried out work at the production plant of SMI Group in San Giovanni, a company specializing in the design and installation of machinery for the production and packaging of cans.
The company chose to invest in the seismic upgrading of its facility with a clear objective: to increase safety for people, reduce the risk of structural damage, and at the same time ensure the continuity of production activities even in the event of an earthquake.
The building was constructed with simply supported structural elements, prior to the latest technical standards. For this reason, Magnetti Building designed and installed specific mechanical connections between the prefabricated elements, with the aim of improving the overall behavior of the building and ensuring greater structural continuity. The intervention helped make the structure safer and more efficient, significantly reducing existing vulnerabilities.
One of the key aspects of the project was coordination with the plant’s production activities. The construction site was organized in close collaboration with the company, avoiding production downtime and scheduling work during daytime hours. The planning was constantly adapted to SMI Group’s operational needs, allowing the project to be completed efficiently without interfering with production processes.
From design to execution, the entire intervention was managed by Magnetti Building, which completed the work in approximately one and a half months.
