SINCE 2003, WE HAVE BEEN COLLABORATING WITH THE BERGAMO PRISON TO CREATE NEW OPPORTUNITIES BOTH INSIDE AND OUTSIDE THE PRISON. OUR INVOLVEMENT INCLUDES WORKSHOPS AND PUBLISHING PROJECTS THAT ENGAGE INMATES IN THE VISION OF AN INCLUSIVE COMMUNITY. THIS IS A TANGIBLE COMMITMENT TO SUPPORTING PROJECTS, SHARING LIFE STORIES, AND FOSTERING OPPORTUNITIES FOR PERSONAL REDEMPTION.

SPACE. OPEN DIARY FROM THE PRISON.
Since 2024, we have been proud supporters of SPAZI(), a magazine conceived within the Bergamo Prison and created by inmates, volunteers, operators, writers, journalists and students.
This powerful editorial project is a heartfelt chorus of voices that explores themes of detention, punishment, redemption, hope and humanity. It fosters dialogue and a challenge between prisoners and citizens, providing a shared space on paper where a united and cohesive community can come together and rediscover itself. Born out of a desire for self-expression, each issue of the magazine begins with this description:
Space. The Open Diary from the Prison is written by an editorial team composed of individuals incarcerated in the Bergamo prison. In their effort to make sense of their detention, they engage in activities such as reading books, meeting intellectuals, participating in discussions and ultimately writing about themselves and society. This journey of introspection and expression serves as a rejection of being seen solely as “offences that walk.”
We also had the opportunity to discuss this project with Adriana Lorenzi, the editorial director of the magazine, who provided valuable insights into a world unknown to many—one that is hidden, where people learn to listen to one another and to truly hear each other’s voices.

INTERNAL WORKSHOPS
Throughout the year, we are also committed to supporting the textile and bakery workshops, which offer important work opportunities for inmates, especially as they look toward future re-employment.

For this reason, in 2023, we gave our customers, suppliers and stakeholders traditional Italian Christmas and Easter cakes made in the prison bakery, all delivered in beautiful bags handmade by the prison’s textile workshop. This gesture was a tribute to the dignity of work and an opportunity for redemption. Through these small yet meaningful actions, we aim to emphasise the opportunity for inmates to rediscover the value of work, even while incarcerated.
